Every year, the members of Poynton Round Table take time out of their busy lives to volunteer their evenings spreading festive cheer around Poynton. Through cold winter nights and busy December schedules, volunteers come together with one shared goal — bringing the magic of Christmas to local families and children.
The Santa Sleigh visits are a true community effort. Each outing is supported by a dedicated team consisting of one driver, one Santa, and two elves who walk alongside the sleigh to ensure safety while collecting donations that help support local causes. It’s teamwork, generosity, and community spirit in action.
Celebrating the Spirit of Santa
The Spirit of Santa Award 2025 is proudly awarded to Matt Wallace, whose dedication truly defined this year’s celebrations.
Completing more Santa shifts than anyone else, Matt brought joy, wonder, and happiness every time the suit went on. His commitment and enthusiasm shone through at every event, creating unforgettable moments for families across the community.
Matt took on the role of Santa during Poynton Christmas Fest, the longest and most demanding shift of the year. Despite the scale and pace of the event, he made a consistent effort to ensure every child received time, attention, and a magical experience with Santa.
In addition to this, Matt served as Santa for two mobile sleigh rounds and volunteered as an elf (supporting walker) for two further evenings — demonstrating outstanding dedication alongside an already busy personal and professional life.
A teacher and father of three children, Matt embodies the true spirit of giving back, balancing family, work, and community service with remarkable generosity. In recognition, he was awarded a special Santa hat from his fellow Tablers.
